Montana Historical Society
Whenever I prepare my comments for Montana’s Cultural Treasurers I am reminded of how truly blessed the state is with museums, galleries, theatres and bookstores.
I also am reminded of how much the Governor’s office, Travel Montana, the Arts Council, Humanities Montana and the Montana Historical Society on behalf of all the history and heritage facilities across the state work together to offer world-class cultural opportunities to all Montanans as well as to the thousands who visit us each year.
Our Society Museum in cooperation with Glacier National Park is hosting the official exhibit on the 100th Anniversary of Glacier this year. When you visit us in our facility just east of the Capitol Building in Helena, you will be treated to a unique collection of artifacts, including a live bear trap, artworks, electronic displays and much more that will remind you of how important Glacier Park has been to Montana history.
If you are a writer, artist or historian yourself, our Research Center, photo and document archives, and other programs will be glad to lend you a hand in interpreting Montana on your own.
In addition to our Lewis and Clark exhibit that shows how Native Americans lived at the time of the expedition, our great Charlie Russell art gallery and children’s museum area, our Museum Store welcomes you as a shopper’s paradise for things that say Montana. Be sure to visit us.
